设计意图：本课的主要目的是让学生掌握一些新单词，以及英语中如何询问年龄。创建一种开放的、和谐的、积极互动的语言练习氛围，让学生愉快地融合在英语学习的环境之中。激发学生学习的兴趣，增强自信心。

Teaching aims:

1.Let the students read the new words:　sister, brother, old, young

2. Practice “How old are you? I am        year(s) old? "

Class Opening and Review (8 minutes)

1 .GREETING

T: Class begins.

Hello, boys and girls.

Ss: Hello, Miss Guo.

T: How are you today ?

Ss: I am fine, and you?

T: I' m fine, too. Thank you! Sit down, please.

SING"I LOVE YOU , YOU LOVE ME"

T: Now look at this picture. This is Li Ming's family. Li Ming's father is tall. His mother is shopping . They look like very happy. Today we feel very happy.

 Are you happy?

Ss: Yes!

T: Let' s sing a song to show happy, Ok?<<I love you, you love me>>,)

T: You are good singers.

 T: Look at these cards. Let' s play a game to review.

 T: Ok, class. Look at the screen. Please talk something about the picture?

 T: Excellent. Now say after me. This is Jenny' s sister, Lynn. Her hair is

very red. She is a pretty girl.

 T: Very good. His name is Bob. He is very tall. He is handsome.

 1. Old, young ( 6 minutes )

 T: Good job. Now let me introduce my family. Look, this is my mother. She is sixty. She is old. (Write old on the blackboard)

Old, Read the word after me. Then read the sentences.

 Look, this is my son. He is one year old. He is young. Very young. (Write young on the blackboard)Young, Read the word after me. Then read the sentences.

 (He is young. The boy is young. My son is young, )

(设计意图:通过观察回答问题，为下一步描述做铺热。学生希望了解老师家庭成员的情况,能吸引学生的注意力。简笔画简单明了地表现出old，young的特点，给学生以深刻的印象。)  

 Now look at these pictures. Who can say a sentence with "old"or "young".

 Ss:  (gifts for the students who say the sentences correctly)

 T: Now look at the screen. The old man is Jenny' s grandfather and the young girl is Jenny. What do they look like? Let' s listen to the tape to find out.

 2.How old are you ? (5 minutes)

 T: Oh, Jenny is young. Do you know how old Jenny is? Listen to Jenny and me.

 (Pretend to talk with Jenny.)T: Hello. Jenny!

 Jenny: Hello, Miss Li!

 T: How old are you, Jenny?

 Jenny: I am ten years old How old are you, Miss Li?

 T: I can' t tell you. It' s a secret.(Face to the class. )Ok, class. Do you understand?

Ss:Yes!

 T:Very good. We talked about age. "How old is Jenny?" Ss: Ten..

T:Excellent. She is ten years old.(write this sentence on the blackboard)  years

 (设计意图:再一次使学生在听觉和视觉上加深对old，young的理解。)

T: How old am I ?   Ss: I don't know.

T:Yes. It's a secret. Now I want to know how old you are. Can you tell me your age? How old are you? (Ask some students to answer this question and put a sticker on his or her face )When the student answers, I say "You are young. I am old.”

T: Do you know"How old is Li Ming, Danny and Jenny?"Please open your books and listen to the tape to find the answer. Ok, now who can tell us "how old is Li Ming / Danny / Jenny / Lynn?"

(设计意图:告诉学生教师的年龄是个秘密．让学生了解西方国家的一些风俗习惯。尤其是妇女对询问年龄的忌讳。)

T: Now take out your activity book. let's do some exercises.

   Match the pictures and sentences.

PRACTICE: (6 minutes )

T: Ok, boys and girls, now you know Jenny' s/Danny' s/Li Ming' s age. Look here.

I have many pictures. Let' sguess how old they are, ok? (Show the pictures and ask the students to guess. )
