一、教学内容分析

本部分为本单元的阅读部分。介绍了在不同国家人们庆祝生日时不同的饮食文化。内容紧扣单元话题饮食。开阔了学生的视野,渗透了文化意识的培养。

本部分的教学重点是巩固学生对单元功能和语法结构的理解,通过阅读短文了解不同国家的饮食文化。教学难点是阅读语篇教学,教师不仅要让学生抓住文章的大意细节信息,讲解文章中一些常见又实用的词汇和短语,同时,在教学中还需要渗透中西方文化比较和文化理解的内容。

二、教学目标

  1. 知识目标:掌握以下词汇:world, answer, different, cake, candle, age, blow, blow out, if, will, UK, candy, lucky, popular, cut up idea

2. 能力目标:通过训练,提高阅读的能力,运用不同的阅读技巧完成不同的任务。

3. 情感目标:具有初步的世界文化观念,并针对生日这一话题进行对父母的感恩教育。

三、教学重点及难点

1. 教学重点:

1) 阅读中出现的重点词组;

2) 通过进行说、读的训练,来提高学生们综合运用所学知识的能力。

2. 教学难点

      阅读训练以及阅读篇章中出现的重点词组的落实;

四、教学过程

Step 1 Lead in

     Watch a video about birthday and discuss “what can you see in the video?”

Step 2 A talk about birthday

     (1) When is your birthday?

     (2) What do you eat on your birthday?

(3) What do you do on your birthday?

 

Step 3 Before-- reading

Make a prediction about what the passage is about according to the title and picture.

What is the passage about?

A. It's about a birthday party.

B. Different countries eat different birthday foods.

C. People have birthday cakes with candles.

Step 4 While—reading

  (1) Fast reading

    Read the passage find out the foods and countries mentioned.

  (2) Careful reading

     Read the passage for the second time and complete the chart in 2b

     Groupwork:

 Read the passage for the third time and answer the questions in 2c, then discuss the answers in group.

Step 5 Afterreading

(1)   Check the prediction.

(2)   Underline the key points in the book.

                 A Special gift

  Alan is eleven years old. And it is his first time to come to China to visit his grandparents. Today is Sunday. Its his eleventh birthday. He gets up early and he wants to buy some food for his birthday party in the afternoon.

  He sees a big bowl of noodles on the table when he comes out of the his bedroom. It is a bowl of egg and tomato noodles. Alan usually eats bread for breakfast in America. He likes egg and tomato noodles, but he wants to know why Grandma cooks noodles this morning.

  It is your birthday today, says Grandma. In China, eating noodles on your birthday means you can live longer. We call noodles changshou noodles. I hope you live a happy and healthy life.

  Thanks, Grandma. I think it’s the first special gift I get for my birthday, says Alan.
