美国初中生的学校生活
美国学生小学毕业后直接升入初级中学。初中的主要课程有数学、英文、科学（理化及自然等综合课），社会科学、法文。另外还开设工业、艺术、木工、军事、美术课程，每样仅修半学期，体育则不算分。美国学生的教室宽敞明亮，教学设施齐全，学校都设有室内运动场。
美国中学生十分喜爱体育运动。学生在学好理论基础课外，还十分喜欢动手实践。同时，学校还注重开发学生的智力，充分发挥学生的个性，让学生开展广泛的探究性学习。

Step I Greetings.
Step II Lead-in
Act out some activities and make statements. For example, you can pretend to eat an apple and say, I’m eating. You can pretend to watch TV and say, I’m watching TV. Then get some students to act out simple actions and ask them the question, What are you doing?
Step III 1b
Ask the students to look at the picture of the book. Name the activities and let students repeat.
Then get them to read the list of words together. Match the words with the activities.
Check the answers.

Step IV 1b
Let the students read the names. Then play the recording the first time. Students only listen. Play the recording a second time. Students write numbers.

Ask two students to read the conversation.
Let the students talk about what people are doing in the picture in 2a in pairs.
Then show some pictures and ask, What are they doing?

He’s reading. 他正在读书。
“be+动词的-ing”是现在进行时的句型结构，表示正在进行的动作或发生的事情。注意：动词be有三种形式，即am, is, are。eg:
Look! They are playing football. 看！他们在踢足球。
Is she doing her homework? 她正在做作业啊？

Summarize what they have learnt and give them some homework.
